Ardesia Contro il Blu

Il dorso è color ardesia, il ventre è chiaro, e tra i due corre una linea frastagliata come il bordo di una costa.

Sott’acqua questo contrasto diventa il centro di tutto. La luce scende in raggi obliqui, scivola sulla curva della testa, si spezza sulle pinne e lascia il fianco quasi scuro. Cinque fessure branchiali ne scandiscono la superficie. Sul muso e sul capo restano cicatrici sottili, tagli che la pelle non cancella. La coda porta una piccola incisione sul margine, un’imperfezione che il profilo non nasconde.

Poi la bocca. Si apre su gengive rosa e file di denti seghettati, l’unico punto caldo in un’immagine costruita di grigi e di blu.

Il corpo è inarcato verso la superficie, e dietro di lui le bolle salgono in una scia bianca. Occupa l’inquadratura come un peso che non chiede spiegazioni.

Qui il blu non fa da sfondo. Fa da misura.

Slate Against the Blue

The back is slate grey, the belly pale, and between them runs a jagged line like the edge of a coastline.

Underwater, that contrast becomes the center of everything. Light descends in slanting rays, slides over the curve of the head, breaks across the fins and leaves the flank nearly dark. Five gill slits mark the surface. On the snout and head, thin scars remain, cuts the skin doesn’t erase. A small notch in the tail’s edge is an imperfection the outline doesn’t hide.

Then the mouth. It opens onto pink gums and rows of serrated teeth, the only warm point in an image built from greys and blues.

The body arches toward the surface, and behind it the bubbles rise in a white trail. It fills the frame like a weight that asks for no explanation.

Here the blue isn’t a backdrop. It’s the measure.

Pizarra Contra el Azul

El lomo es gris pizarra, el vientre claro, y entre ambos corre una línea irregular como el borde de una costa.

Bajo el agua, ese contraste se vuelve el centro de todo. La luz desciende en rayos oblicuos, resbala por la curva de la cabeza, se quiebra en las aletas y deja el costado casi oscuro. Cinco hendiduras branquiales marcan su superficie. En el hocico y la cabeza quedan cicatrices finas, cortes que la piel no borra. Una pequeña muesca en el borde de la cola es una imperfección que el perfil no esconde.

Después, la boca. Se abre sobre encías rosadas y hileras de dientes serrados, el único punto cálido en una imagen construida de grises y azules.

El cuerpo se arquea hacia la superficie, y tras él las burbujas suben en una estela blanca. Ocupa el encuadre como un peso que no pide explicaciones.

Aquí el azul no es fondo. Es medida.
